Password & passphrase check
Type a password to get a rough strength estimate. It is checked in your browser by code on this page and is never sent anywhere or stored. Even so, do not test a password you use right now. Try one built the same way.

What actually makes a password strong
- Length beats cleverness. A random passphrase of four or more unrelated words is both strong and easy to remember.
- Never reuse one. A breach at one site should not unlock your other accounts. A password manager makes unique passwords painless.
- Turn on multi-factor authentication wherever it is offered. A hardware key or authenticator app is better than SMS.
This is a rough estimate of how many guesses an attacker would need, using simple rules and a short list of very common passwords. It cannot know if your password appeared in a past breach. For that, use a trusted breach-check service of your choice.
